Intentional Ignorance

Holi kab hai!!! Kab hai holi!!!....The famous dialog by the one and only "Gabbar Singh" in the the legendary movie "Sholay".....its on everyone's tongue when Holi arrives nearby. The interesting fact is that it's on the tongue of water department also, the difference being that it is a bit more worried kind of version. Every year, there are long pledging about not playing holi with water and try to use as much natural color as possible. We all know how many of them follow these requests. The water departments of various states are generous enough to have some special arrangements of water supply for the festival of colors. But, still the worry never leaves them. The great great worry of "Water shortage" that we all face. We all refer to Holi as "The Festival of Colors" isn't it!!! Then where does the WATER come from to play such a major role in celebrating this festival? I think, according to today's trend of celebrating Holi, we all should honestly rename it as "The Festival of Water Colors". :D

Each and every person playing Holi is well aware of the water crisis somewhere deep within his heart. I wonder why is this so that he/she readily suffers the water crisis whole year but keeps it completely aside while celebrating holi and wasting so much of water. It's not that I am pure at heart and generously save water every day. We all are links of the same chain of culprits. To be honest, upto a few years ago, I used to give the same arguments against this which most of them give today - "Yaar saalbhar me ek hi din to holi aati hai, usme bhi natak kyun karna itna, bindaas khelo!!!". Now that I am able to understand the "Intentional Ignorance" shown by people in this argument, I wonder whether this argument could ever be tackled with. That's because Ignorance still has a cure but what can we do about this "INTENTIONAL IGNORANCE" occurring once every year???
